I’m the author of over sixteen Western historical and paranormal romances with Harlequin. It took me a while to get published, but I didn’t give up, even when I received a rejection that came in a sealed bag with apologies from the post office because someone had set it on fire. (The agent perhaps?) My luck at Harlequin has been good lately but early on one of my manuscripts was accidentally thrown away by the new cleaning staff and had to be resubmitted. That first story was Winter Woman and it won a RITA nomination from Romance Writers of America for Best First Book. I’ve had a second nomination since then for my first Western novella.
I also write paranormal romances for the Nocturne line. My Tracker series is based on Native American lore and my first paranormal, Dream Stalker won the Book Buyers Best Award in 2010.
I love the outdoors. I learned to ride and shoot when I was a girl growing up in the Catskill Mountains (of Rip Van Winkle fame) and have enjoyed a few adventures of my own. My husband and I prospect for gold all over the U.S., most recently in Alaska. I also hunt for gemstones and fossils. My experience with scuba diving makes it possible for me to use a dredge for gold mining and to search in rivers for fossil beds. Last summer I found a fossilised bear tooth in a southern river.
My tamer hobbies include gardening, quilting and making jewellry with some of the rocks and gems that I have found. I currently live in the Hudson Valley of New York State with my husband.
