We're thrilled to announce that we have acquired the first romance novel from Love Island 2019 winner Amber Rose Gill,Until I Met You.

Alongside this, we'll also be partnering with Amber to launch Love to Write, a competition in search of romance writers from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds who live in the UK and Ireland. The winner of Love to Write will receive a one-book contract with Mills & Boon, a one-year mentorship with a Mills & Boon editor to help them develop their submission into a full romance novel and a writing grant to support their writing.

The competition aims to find new romance stories by writers from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds that bring more diverse characters and perspectives to the romance genre. The competition is for unagented writers who have not had a romance book published before. Submissions open on 9th July 2021 and close at midnight BST on 19th September 2021. Full details of how to enter can be found below.

Amber Rose Gill said: ‘For me this project is so much more than just a love story. It’s about bringing more representation and inclusivity to the romance genre. I know first-hand growing up that love stories were never about girls and boys who looked like me. I want to create a narrative that changes this, that lets people see themselves in the heroine or hero. Given Mills & Boon novels have been selling for over 100 years, it’s the perfect brand to join forces with to make positive changes and to inspire other writers to do the same.’
