Brides of Waterloo: Love Forged on the Battlefield

A mistress for Major Bartlett by Annie Burrows

Rating By Julia,06/02/2016

Brides of Waterloo series Unlike many Series this one has 3 different authors. 1 _ A Lady for Lord Randall by Sarah Mallory _____ 05/15 ~~~( Colonel Lord Randall, Justin Latymor and Mary Endacott ) 2 _ A Mistress for Major Bartlett by Annie Burrows _ 06/15 ~~~( Major Tom Bartlett and Lady Sarah Latymor ) 3 _ A Rose for Major Flint by Louise Allen ________ 07/15 ~~~( Major Adam Flint and Rose ) I am so excited about this series, as it marks the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. Many forget about the battles of the past and I am glad Mills and Boon did not. This series as I mentioned above is the collaboration of 3 of Historical Romance’s best writers. The second of the stories starts from the finding of Justin Latymor. Lady Sarah has run away back to Brussels as she finds it hard to believe her twin brother Gideon is dead. It happened in the previous book so if you have not read it, best read that one first. She encounters Mary on her way out to look for Justin. Mary doesn’t want to take Lady Sarah and her dog Ben but has no choice. Ben was rescued by Lady Sarah but is known as the mascot for the rogues. In trying not to show the rogues the unladylike task of throwing up, she removes to the other side of a wall. There a man in the mud begs for her help. There are women who were stripping him thinking him dead and one tries to kill him but Lady Sarah stops her along with Ben’s help. When the rogues come to help they discover it is one of their Majors, Major Tom Bartlett. They get him back to Brussels and place him on Sarah’s bed asking her to nurse him. They cleaned him and Sarah started her nursing of him by starting with stitching his head closed. Things are revealed during this time and Sarah becomes stronger in herself. Their relationship also develops. Later when Sarah visits her brother he makes up her mind for her about her future. For once Sarah is in control of her own life. Much is left very much open at the end of the book. There is one more story to go and hopefully they will link all the characters up for an update then. The story is similar to that of Lord Randall’s as they are both in the same war, but the relationships are very different and the story style also. A wonderful continuation but a little lacking in the ending.
