Melina’s discovery of a priceless statue is her one hope of saving her family from ruin – if she can only persuade the Earl of Warrington to grant her safe passage on his ship to London. But Melina knows she’s gone too far when he takes her for a lady of easy virtue!

When they are thrown together during the voyage, he shockingly comes to realise his mistake. Now he’s honour-bound to keep her safe. But as she’s thrust into London’s social whirl how long will it be before she discovers his scandalous dark past?

A good first book

The story had interest that hasn't been used before which made the story interesting. The book was a little slow at the beginning and some key points were handled a bit too fast for my comfort. The book has character and so do the characters. They are well written and have a great depth. It would be wonderful if Warrington's brothers' get their story and that Melina's sisters' also get their story. There was much introduced, but not much was concluded by the end of the book. I wanted to know about their wedding and wanted to know what happened to Broomer and if they had a baby of their own. What became of Daphne in the end and what happened to Ludgate. We are told about Ben's visit to get the sisters and I would like to read that story. Hopefully the author will write more about Andrew and Melina if the other stories are written which I do hope so. A promising start. An author to watch for in the future.

There was no mention on the blurb that the hero was a widower with two children and his wife had been expecting another baby when she died. If there had then I wouldn't have bought this in the first place. The whole story revolved too much around the hero's dead wife and I got bogged down in the prose. One of the main strands of the plot was left "unanswered" at the end. I didn't really enjoy this at all.
