After the luxurious bath, Janelle felt divine, but she also didn’t have anything to wear. When she left the photo shoot yesterday, she’d had no idea she wouldn’t go back to the hotel. But she was happy with the turn of events. She supposed it was a good thing Silas hadn’t joined her in the bath. It gave her some time to reflect and try to make sense out of everything that had happened.
All this time, she’d thought Silas was done with her, that he didn’t want her, that he’d never tried to get her back. She’d felt unloved and unwanted, but what she thought she knew wasn’t the truth. He had tried to contact her, but her agent, Brad Turner, and possibly others at her modeling agency had gotten in the way. It had been in their favor to keep her and Silas at odds, because it ensured Janelle did exactly what they wanted, which was keeping her distant from Silas.
If only she’d sought him out on her own. It wasn’t just up to Silas to admit he’d made a mistake. It took two for a marriage to fail, but she’d been so stubborn, refusing to give an inch because she felt she was in the right. And what had that done but cost them precious years apart? Years they couldn’t get back.
She owed Silas an apology.
If they ever wanted to heal the rift between them, they were going to have to be completely honest and leave nothing on the table. Otherwise, they could go another six years with unanswered questions.
But first she needed something to wear, because if she walked out to the living room naked, they would get little accomplished. She found what she needed in Silas’s walk-in closet. She pulled on a pair of sweatpants, rolling them up at the ankles and cinching them at the waist, along with another T-shirt from one of his restaurants. Given that he owned eight throughout the country, there were plenty of T-shirts to choose from. She would have to go braless, but that was nothing new.
She would go out there and face Silas and admit she’d made mistakes, too. Apologize to him. She just prayed he would forgive her so they can try to pick up the pieces of their failed marriage and possibly start again.
