About Jennie

I had a tragic beginning for any would-be writer: a very happy childhood. My parents owned a bookstore and I grew up surrounded by books, dreaming about faraway lands. My mother read aloud to me in French when I was little; as I grew up, my father secretly paid me a dollar for every classic novel (Jane Eyre, War and Peace) that I read. I covered my bedroom with travel posters and always had my nose in a book.

At fifteen, I went to a Connecticut boarding school on scholarship. I took my first solo trip to Europe at sixteen then put off college and travelled around the U.S., supporting myself with jobs as diverse as a gas station cashier and a newspaper advertising assistant.

At twenty two, I met the man who would be my husband and for the first time in my life, I wanted to stay in one place – as long as I could be with him. After our marriage, I graduated from Kent State University with a degree in English and I started writing books a year later.

I went on to become a finalist in the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart contest in 2003 and a winner in 2005. A fellow 2003 finalist, Australian author Trish Morey, read my writing and suggested that I write for Harlequin Presents. It seemed like such a big dream at the time, but I took a deep breath and went for it. A year later, after seven years of writing and eight finished manuscripts, I got the magical call from London that turned me into a published author.

Since then, life has been hectic; juggling a writing career, a sexy husband and two young children, but I love my crazy, chaotic life. Who needs a clean house? Every day, I get swept into drama, glamour and passion. Now if I can only figure out how to pack up my family and live in all the places I’ve been writing about!
