I began writing romance in my early teens and immediately knew I’d found my calling in life. After working as a secretary in a busy teaching hospital, I turned my hand to writing Medical Romance. I currently live in South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsular.
I was born in England in the Lake District, but at the age of two, my parents decided to move to Australia – and thankfully took me with them! I love the sunburnt country, the land of sweeping plains, with its rugged mountain ranges... and droughts and flooding rains.
I first discovered a passion for writing when I started getting excellent grades in my comprehension and English lessons and rather appalling grades for everything else. A ‘late bloomer’ in the reading department, I would sit up until all hours of the night (or early morning) devouring one romance novel after the other. At the age of seventeen, I decided I wanted to write one.
I wrote my first manuscript, sent it (via post) over the wide, blue ocean to the offices of Mills & Boon in London and received a very nice rejection letter. But I was determined. I knew that one day, somehow, I would achieve my dream. Later, while working full time in a hospital as a medical secretary for two busy orthopaedic surgeons, I typed up a fresh story and submitted it for publication. Rejection again. Although by this time, I’d called for reinforcements - my romance writing group. They provided counselling (lunches) and support (dinners). Then one day I had an idea! I decided to try and write a Medical Romance book. This I did and broke through the barriers into the publishing world. Elation! Excitement! Euphoria!
When I eventually floated down from the clouds, I began to realise the enormous task that lay ahead in producing even more work and I'm pleased to say that after fifty (and more) books, I still enjoy creating new and exciting characters, show casing my awesome country of Australia.
I look forward to a long and happy association with my characters, my editors and my readers.
