I began writing romance after joining the Middlesbrough Writers group and meeting fellow romance writer Anne Mather. Inspired by her work, I began to pen my own stories and I sold my first novel to Mills & Boon in 1975.
In 2010 I became chairman of the Southern Writers' Conference, and in 2011 I was elected the twenty-sixth Chairman (2011–2013) of the Romantic Novelists' Association.
These days I share my Somerset home with a West Highland white terrier called Berlie Wooster, several thousand books, and an amazing video collection. When I’m not writing, I like to travel around Europe, and to New York to visit my grandchildren. I also love to eat in good restaurants and go to the theatre, but reading will always be my greatest passion.
