About Pamela

I have loved books for as long as I can remember, so, in retrospect, it seems only natural that I eventually became an author. My path to publication was not a straight one, however. After graduating from college with a degree in advertising, I merrily set off to earn a living as a graphic designer, print buyer, model, waitress, pantyhose salesperson, public relations specialist, advertising copywriter, and finally freelance writer. The idea of writing a book finally crossed my mind when I turned twenty seven, so I sat down and wrote the beginning and the ending... and then gave up when I realised I had no clue what to do with the other three hundred pages.

It wasn't until five years later, after giving birth to my first child, that I decided to try my hand at writing a book again. Maybe it was the combination of changing diapers, working from the house as a freelancer, and writing a video script about motors and drives – or simply the fact that I'm a hopeless romantic – but whatever the reason, one afternoon when the baby was asleep I started writing a novel. Convinced I had penned the next international bestseller, I quickly surmised from the swift flood of rejection letters I received that I had plenty to learn about the craft of novel writing. That first book, while it holds a special place in my heart, is now buried deep in the attic, never to see the light of day.

My second book finalled in several contests, including the Romance Writers of America’s prestigious Golden Heart contest and the Maggie’s. But, alas, it, too, found only a home in the attic. Proving the old adage true – three’s a charm – it was my third book, Oh Baby!, that became my first sale and was published in December 2004 by Harlequin Superromance.

I live in Wisconsin with my three daughters and a hyperactive Malty-Poo who made an appearance in The Wedding Heiress as a poodle named Blue. I keep threatening to write a serious novel, but every time I try, some silly characters take control of the story and soon all matter of mayhem and foolishness is happening on the pages again.
