The door opened, and Tyler stared into the face of the only woman he wanted. No way in hell was he going to let this moment pass him by.
“I need to change my clothes,” she told him.
Tyler eased through the opening and stepped into her room. She closed the door once again and turned to face him. His nerves had never been this charged up or on edge. Nothing had ever mattered this much.
“You need to listen to me,” he countered. “Don’t start getting in your head and thinking of all the reasons this won’t work.”
She just stared at him when he thought for sure she would argue. Maybe she was listening after all.
“We can deal with your brother later,” Tyler went on. “But we should be thanking him, because I don’t know if you would have taken this risk had we not been pushed into this situation.”
“Me?” she fired back. “Would you have ever crossed the line?”
“Absolutely,” he answered without hesitation. “I didn’t know when, but I was tired of dating, tired of trying to find a woman who could make me feel just half of how I feel when I’m with you. For years I’ve let you hover in the friend zone as my best friend’s little sister, but I’m done.”
Alisha blinked as moisture gathered in her eyes. He didn’t want to pressure her, but he also wouldn’t let her hide how she felt, either.
“What are you saying?” she murmured.
Tyler reached for her, gripping her arms and easing her toward him so she had to tip her head back to meet his gaze.
“I’m saying we’re more than friends. You know it as well as I do, and it’s time we just agreed that we belong together.”
“What about Adam?” she asked.
“He became a nonissue when he forced us to open our eyes.” Tyler laughed. “Honey, I’m not going to let you run from this fear, because being with you these last two days has been the best time of my life. Can you imagine what a life together would look like?”
“Are you serious?” she asked.
Tyler kissed her, then eased back slightly. “I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life. You’ve always been the one. I love you, Alisha.”
She closed her eyes, sending a lone tear down her cheek before she met his gaze again. His gut tightened, but then she smiled and relief swept through him.
“I love you. You’ve always been the one, too,” she told him. “I’m scared of messing this up, though.”
“We’ll make a deal,” he told her. “I’ll take care of you and everything you need, and you take care of the kitchen. Unless you want sandwiches and doughnuts for life.”
Alisha threw her arms around his neck. “We’ll figure it out. Should we go down and talk to Adam?”
Tyler lifted her and spun toward the bed. “He can wait.”
