About Emily

I started reading Mills and Boon novels at the age of fourteen – which gave me a somewhat unrealistic idea of what to expect from boys my age, but stood me in good stead in the long run. When I was a child I wanted to be Robin Hood or d'Artagnan. Now I want to be Éowyn from Lord of the Rings.

I've been vegetarian since the age of nine, and my hobbies (apart from writing) are reading, watching films, travel, horse riding, giving dinner parties where I wow the guests with my sparkling witticisms, and sleep. I make cakes for all occasions, often to request, and occasionally biscuits, too. I love tea above most things.

I have a degree in English and Drama, and so naturally left university virtually unemployable. My past jobs have included being a milk(wo)man, a parcel delivery driver, a charity fundraiser and a station assistant on London Underground. I am now a graduate-entry medical student in my penultimate year at a teaching hospital in London. I hope one day to become a doctor – my tenuous grasp of science permitting.

I live in London, but dream of moving to Uganda and building myself a house by the Nile. I have read everything that Virginia Woolf has ever written, and maintain that every parent should buy A Room of One's Own for each daughter they have.

I love babies and hate people who don't say thank you.
