Regency Brides of Convenience: deals made at the altar!

3rd in the series

Rating By Julia,02/06/2015

Regency Brides of Convenience series 1 _ Rescued by the Viscount _________ 11/14 ~~~( Jack Delsey and Charlotte ) 2 _ Chosen by the Lieutenant _________ 01/15 ~~~( Peter Phipps and Amanda ) 3 _ Reunited with the Major __________ 03/15 ~~~( Harry Brockley and Samantha ) Carrying on the story of some of Wellington’s men after the war. They are all very close more like brothers and they have helped each other out in times of need. Now it is the turn of Major Harry Brockley. He, in Peter’s story got engaged to Miss Langton when she was stolen away. Brock as he is known throughout the book, is not sure about marrying Miss Langton. He had gone to the bedside of his friend when she died and was on his way back when he encounters Rosemarie. He could not save his friend but he was going to try to save Rosemarie. She is lying in the road. Brock takes her to the closest inn and they call the doctor. Rosemarie is Rose Mary and she had run away from her uncle and aunt because they were going to force her to marry a man who only wanted her mills. Her father left her as the sole heir but her uncle and aunt were guardians. Brock sets out to help her and finds out she is in love with a young officer and is not keen to marry anyone but him. Brock takes her to London when she is well enough and tries to enlist help from other female relations but in the end he settles for Mrs Samantha Scatterby, the only woman he has ever loved and the widow of his commanding officer. They had an event when he loaned her his house in order for her to nurse her husband. Since then he thought she had a disgust of him. During the time they are together, they realise that all is not as it seems. Brock enlists the help of some colleagues from the army to guard Rosemarie against her uncle. Brock takes away the power the uncle held over Rosemarie’s inheritance and pays for her to be able to go about London and get some town bronze. She encounters two new problems and Samantha is thrown into the middle. Brock has to leave to sort out his engagement and things take a turn for the worse. Rosemarie is taken. Brock has 3 possible culprits to check. Everything works out well in the end and all comes about well. I would have liked more of an ending and would like to see a story for Cameron.

Fails to spark

Rating By R,07/04/2015

The final book of The Regency Brides Of Convenience from Mrs Herries and while I usually enjoy this author this was the weakest of the three stories. There was far too much emphasis on Sam's first (and happy) marriage for my liking and although it progressed at the writer's usual pace it never really managed to fully spark. Six out of ten
