At her boss’s beck and call…
Recovering from a terrible car accident, world-renowned playboy Luis Martinez is bored, grumpy and frustrated. He’s sick of nurses fussing over him, so he fires the lot and demands his sweet, innocent housekeeper massage him back to health!
Carly Conner has spent her life trying not to be noticed – but now, with her boss looking at her differently, every day the tantalising tension between them grows. After Luis whisks her away to his villa in the south of France, how long will she be able to deny the temptation he poses… especially when he makes a second shocking proposition?

This was a hugely entertaining read, which met the very high standards set
by the brilliant Sharon Kendrick. I have enjoyed some of her other titles more
but this had all the winning aspects that make MODERNS so enjoyable to read.
I found Carly especially intriguing, and her inner emotional conflicts added
depth to her character. Luis was everything I would expect from a MODERN hero and
he doesn't disappoint. It's easy to see why this author is cruising towards a century
of books for Mills & Boon and judging by this her touch is as assured and nuanced
as ever!! Simply superb!!!
It was a nice read..loved the hero !! The epilogue was a nice touch but I wish scenes of parenthood featured prominently.
not so good
boring and slow
Passionate, sensual, sensitive, enthralling masterpiece!
This story lives up to the ingredients of a truly Romantic Modern genre as it reflects the power of a macho billionaire Luis , the passion that he and the winsome heroine Carly share and indulge in as they both display irresistible temptation for each other. Add to this the fantastic locations the readers will be swept into and enjoy the dialogue that ensues between the hero and the heroine. Sharon Kendrick is truly a genius of a writer. It is always a pleasure to re-read her stories.
This could be described as a light-hearted but typical M&B Modern.
Luis was the stereotype alpha but commitment wary playboy who resisted giving in to Carly's self doubts about her desirability although in other ways she was strong and admirable in having a one-track mind about her goals in life.
It was highly amusing that Luis, lusting after her, argued that taking her virginity in today's world was actually for her sake!
Divided between England and the south of France there was good tension and dialogue.
It was good to see Luis tied up in emotional knots at one stage although I was rather doubtful at his sudden decision that he loved her.
However, this was a fun and highly pleasing read.
Interestingly, if I had been given this book without an author's name on the cover I would have guessed it was written by Cathy Williams!
Ten out of ten
I am not very fond of the housekeeper boss stories, but was happy that Carly was given a much more significant role, and it was not overshadowed by Luis' brilliance. That said, I really enjoyed the book!
