Superb "Traditional" Regency
In an era when M&B historicals seem to be going in all directions and pushing the boundaries this was a superb old-fashioned Regency on a "lovers re-united" theme.
An enigmatic and alluring hero in Hugh and an impetuous, likable if somewhat mixed-up and - to be honest - rather stupid at times heroine in Bea(trice)!
The authentic setting draws you in and all the misunderstandings plus both delightful and villainous secondary characters make compelling reading.
All right the plot is pretty similar to much of what you may have read before but it is so refreshingly written it transcends this.
A novel to restore your faith in M&B historicals - a superb and engrossing read.

A Wonderful Story
This is the second Dewey Sister story.
Beatrice is the older sister but after having been dropped by one suitor she engages in a 3 year relationship which turns sourer for her.
Beatrice and Hugh are the main characters and they both have pasts to contend with.
They were both close in their past but now resentment on Beatrice's side rises into the story. They both have several other obstacles to deal with before they can have a happy ever after.
There are many characters within the story and at times I felt especially Toby and Stella took up too much time away from the main characters of Beatrice and Hugh. The story has good movement and is a joy to read until you reach the ending. I found that very lacking. Some of the middle should have been cut so we could concentrate on Hugh and Beatrice. We know they are happy by the ending but we do not have any reactions from their families including Alex and Toby. Their reactions were totally needed within the story. I also wanted to see Walter's reaction too and Elise. Also we are not told about the 2 mistresses either. There was no wedding and no reactions from Stella or Mrs Monk. It left me annoyed at the ending and disappointed that it was not wrapped up completely. So What happens to Toby and Stella, Mrs Monk, Whitley, and the 2 mistresses? What happens between Alex and Hugh? when Beatrice and Hugh tell everyone their good news. What happens when Beatrice meets Rani and Shay? Do they have any children?
The story was a wonderful read but lacking a true ending to make it excellent.
