Dare she place her heart in his care?

Dr Charlotte James will do anything to save her best friend’s unborn baby – even turn to her ex-fiancé Dr Quinn Devlyn! Their relationship ended badly after the loss of their own little miracle, and while Charlotte trusts the hot-shot neonatal surgeon’s amazing ability she doesn’t trust the man who buries his emotions in work…

A career-threatening injury has left Quinn at a crossroads in his life. But, working with Charlotte again in the snowbound beauty of her isolated community practice, he realises he’s been given a second chance to prove that both the baby and Charlotte’s fragile heart will be safe in his hands…

Plotted on a lovers reunited theme Quinn is an endearing hero whose career as a surgeon is threatened by an injury to his hand and his insecurities caused by this and his guilt at breaking up with Charlotte after she had miscarried touch a chord. I love reading new authors and was keen to read this book. What I did like - the setting, which was described really vividly throughout the story, and the medical detail - which was different and interesting and some medicals lately have lacked. What I didn't like was the hero. From the first few pages you know that he's damaged his hand and it all just seems too convenient for him to come back and help his ex. I felt as if he hadn't had the accident this book would never have happened - he would have lived his life in New York without a second though. Charley was a great heroine and deserved a man who really loved her and was not just a convenience. I'll be interested to read this author's next story because the writing was good.
