He has the power to protect her – by making her his mistress!

Laura Westcotte is the only suitable candidate for the job as Russian tycoon Vasilii Demidov’s PA. He may be forced to hire Laura, but Vasilii is far too cynical ever to trust a woman – particularly one with such a dubious reputation… Desperate for work, Laura knows she must impress her cool and complex new boss.

However, it’s not the chillingly ruthless Russian’s legendary reputation that terrifies her, but the magnetic power of her attraction to him! And when Laura realises she’s in terrible danger, she finds herself at Vasilii’s mercy…

RUSSIAN RIVALS Demidov vs Androvonov –let the most merciless of men win…

Hooked from start to finish. Great characters, wonderful storyline, fiery passion. Loved it...M&B Modern at its best.

Shows potential, but lacks pace

Rating By Cornelia H.,06/12/2011

Penny Jordan is a bit of a household name in the M&B/Harlequin world, but to me this story just didn't deliver. It had all the potential of being a great emotionally compelling story, but the story severely lacks pace. Pages of describing what the resort they where staying at looked like, too much info on Chinese etiquette and endless ponderings from the heroine, is not my idea of a compelling read. It lacks dialogue and therefor Laura and Vasillii's happy ending came completely out of the blue. It just didn't cut it for me and for a writer who has written so many stories, I really would have expected better.

Pure Penny Jordan!

I have to say that this is the best P. Jordan I have read in a long while, and I found myself re-reading lots of parts which for me means that I have really connected with a story. I loved the alpha Russian hero, and I liked the fact that Laura was determined to be very professional in her work no matter what, and had the strength to reject Vasili's proposal. I was very sorry to hear that Penny had passed away - she was one of only 2 British writers on "automatic buy" for me (the other being Lucy Gordon). Her books were very English (which was refreshing since I normally read a lot of American books - mainly Blaze) but very intense and passionate, and surprisingly sexual without being crude or tasteless. I will miss her greatly, but she has left a wonderful legacy which has made a lot of people very happy, and will continue to do so for many years to come. Thanks Penny.

Excellent pace

Good content, both fiesty characters with a sizzling chemistry, which jumps out of the book. Plot has smatterings of the movie 'Pretty Woman' in it, however, although a bit nasty, that scene is extremely well written and 'blended' into the overall romance. The 3rd ear ring was a great touch. Loved it. Only criticism is the constant thoughts and self-doubts of the female lead.

Loved it

Lovely background to this book mostly set in Montenegro and the plot centred around efforts to win a business contract with Chinese partners. There is a sizzling tension throughout focusing on alpha Vasilii's constant negative thoughts on Laura who is a delightful heroine well able to stand up for herself. Although Vasilii comes round in the end he could definitely have used some psychiatric help. But I was hooked on this from the begining. Ten out of ten
