About Lyn

I believe that a little boredom might be a good thing when it comes to child development. I experienced that first hand, growing up on a farm in Mississippi, where long summers and little social life led me to love books and develop the creative imagination that fuels my stories today.

With a wealthy heritage of local talent, such as literary greats William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, and – from my own hometown – Elizabeth Spencer; perhaps it was inevitable that I chose to study English and American literature at the Mississippi University for Women, before going on to share my passion with others through teaching.

During that time, I also married a handsome and worthy hero and reared two normal, noisy children. I also completed a masters degree in school administration and taught myself all sorts of homemaking skills, from gardening to quilting to making homemade jams and jellies. But I never quite forgot my first and most secret dream – to craft romance novels that would combine strong emotional conflicts with interesting historical settings.

In 2001, faced with the pending graduation of my eldest child from high school and feeling the first stirrings of the coming ‘empty-nest,’ I decided the time had come to make my dream come true.

By 2006, I'd completed four novels, made a host of new friends, won numerous awards on the RWA contest circuit and gotten ‘The Call’ from the Harlequin Mills and Boon office.

Writing can be lonely work and it is often frustrating and filled with anxiety. But the joy of creating stories and breathing life into my characters far outweighs any of the negatives. I'd rather be doing this than anything else I know.
