In my former life as a high school English teacher, I taught in the suburbs of Detroit, Cleveland and even Fort Lauderdale. I eventually decided to resign after I gave birth to my son, and my husband and I opened an auction house in Davie, Florida. I found that I missed the academic life, though, and decided to turn my attention to writing when my son started school.
My first attempt at publication was something of a disaster. Unfamiliar with the world of publishing, I wrote a 600-page manuscript that had no place in the market. That book is still sitting on the shelf waiting for a miracle or some major revisions. My writing career finally began when I joined a writers' group and began learning the intricacies of writing and publishing. Since then I have published in the genres of historical and contemporary romance and historical mystery.
I’m still actively involved in the auction business, and as a licensed auctioneer and buyer of antiques and collectibles I’ve discovered many unusual items that I’ve used in my writing. I love to travel the United States and visit the settings where I place my stories. My husband, Walter, is a published author of gaming books. Our son is now in college and we share our home with a spoiled but lovable Jack Russell terrier and an even more spoiled grumpy old cat named Kitty Man.
