Although I started out writing Western romances for Harlequin, recently I’ve taken to creating Regency romances set in the Royal Navy’s Channel Fleet during the Napoleonic Wars between England and France. After a childhood spent as a Navy brat, I have a deep love for the ocean and so in writing these stories, part of me feels I’ve come home.
My history background means I’m no stranger to footnote work, either. During my National Park Service days at the Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site, I edited Friedrich Kurz’s fur trade journal and I recently completed a short history of Fort Buford, where Sitting Bull surrendered in 1881.
Following the ‘dumb luck’ principle that has guided most of our lives, my husband and I recently moved to Wellington, Utah, from North Dakota and we couldn’t be happier with our new location. In my spare time, I volunteer at the Railroad and Mining Museum in Helper and I like to visit my five children, who live here and there around the United States. My favourite place in Utah is Manti, which is on the other end of a drive on the scenic byway through Huntington Canyon.
I always love to hear from readers, please pay a visit to my website if you’d like to get in touch, or find out more about me.
