About Aurelia

I never considered myself as being a writer – nuh-uh, no way – not when I was still at school and writing children’s books, which were duly abandoned when they turned into imitation Enid Blyton tales. Not when I entertained pen pals for hours with letters so long, I had to colour code the paragraphs to make them easier to read. Not even when I was achieving full marks for my creative writing in English. And certainly not when I kept a diary as a teen and wrote a poem with each entry.

Not realising I had a natural, instinctive talent for writing, I turned my back on make believe and fairy tales and threw myself into the ‘real world’. I excelled at many different jobs; from check-out chick to PA, waitress to bank clerk, estate agent to office manager and more. I became a jack-of-all-trades but never settled in any of them, always on a quest to find my ideal career.

When an idea for a contemporary romance flew into my head in October 2011 and wouldn’t leave me alone, I sat down and outlined every chapter, then came up with a pen name and launched myself onto the world-wide-web with a blog and a Facebook page. Then I realised I should probably learn how to write. Just a minor detail though. Fast forward to October 2013 and I have had three stories published already and I have three more under contract.

I write Young Adult/New Adult crossover fiction as well as contemporary romance, but I’ll give any genre a go if the right idea strikes and I think I can do the story justice. I am currently busy writing the stand-alone companion novels to both Popping the Cherry and Christmas is Cancelled. I also moonlight under the pseudonym of Allie A. Burrow – but that’s a story for another day.

After a stint in Birmingham, Southampton and Liverpool, I now live on the edge of the Peak District in the UK with my very understanding husband, our two fantastic children, and our mad rescue mutt who doesn’t mind being used as a sounding post and source of inspiration. I regularly wow them all with curious, hastily thrown together meals when I get too caught up with my latest writing project... or five! I have developed the fine art of ignoring the housework and can finally accept that I may – just may – have been a writer all along.
