In one form or another, I have been a storyteller for most of my life – whether entertaining my friends, working to improve my grades or attempting to get out of trouble. So it was no surprise that I grew up to be a writer. I began my love affair with the genre in junior high, where I used to sneak romance novels into study hall when I should have been doing my homework. It didn't take long for me to decide that I wanted to write a few romances of my own.
Soon after joining Romance Writers of America, my writing began to garner attention in several contests, including the esteemed Golden Heart competition, where I reached the finals three years in a row. Since selling my first book in 1999, I have had the honour of receiving numerous awards and some wonderful reviews.
I also have a soft spot in my heart when it comes to animals and have been known to take injured and homeless critters of just about any species into my home. The domesticated ones I usually end up keeping, and the undomesticated ones I nurse back to health before returning them to the wild. When I’m not writing, I can often be found reading or watching television with a cat (or two) curled up on my lap.
