I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, and received a degree in political science from the University of Michigan. Being a romantic at heart, I never actually wound up pursuing a career in politics – instead, I immediately tossed my diploma in a drawer and went in search of love and adventure.
I found work as a professional actress and model and travelled the country, appearing in a mix of B-list TV shows, commercials, movies and auto shows. Eventually, I landed a job at National Geographic Television in Washington, D.C., writing video box copy and titling films. It was there that I finally realised what I wanted to do when I grew up: write.
After short, unprofitable stints as a poet, a playwright and a screenwriter, a teacher told me to write what I knew. I immediately began writing a romance. I sold that first novel as part of a three-book deal and never looked back.
I now live in Annapolis, Maryland, with my husband and two daughters. I firmly believe that love conquers all and I never tire of hearing stories that support my theory.
