As a child, I loved reading so much that during the midnight hours I was forced to read with a torch under the bedcovers to lull the suspicions of my parents. From an early age I dreamed of writing my own books. I saw myself in a stone cottage by the sea, wearing a velvet smoking jacket and sipping sherry, like Somerset Maugham.
In real life I became a schoolteacher, where my greatest pleasure was teaching children to write beautiful stories.
A little while ago, a friend and I made a pact to each write the first chapter of a romance novel in our holidays. From writing my very first line, I was hooked, and gave up teaching to become a full-time writer. I prefer champagne to sherry, and love music, books, four-legged people, trees, movies and restaurants. I currently live in Queensland, Australia, with a deeply sensitive and intelligent cat.
