My first attempt at wrestling one of my ideas into something that someone else might enjoy reading, took more than two years to complete. Mainly because I kept tearing it up and starting all over again. And I had to get a job, too, in order to pay for my kids school and then university fees. Of course, I always made sure that it was the kind of work that wouldn't interfere with my right to daydream as much as possible.
At long last I finished that first novel... which was then rejected by every single publisher I sent it to. By this time, writing had become an addiction and I knew there was no way I could give up. I read 'how-to' books, attended a course, studied the market, and eventually, Mills & Boon accepted the fifth story I sent in. His Cinderella Bride was published in September 2007.
Nowadays, I have the perfect excuse for wandering around daydreaming: 'I'm working on my next chapter.'
