As a dedicated fan of reading, writing and books of all varieties, I consider myself blessed to be an author. If that career hadn't worked out, I would be teaching in a university, surrounded by overflowing bookshelves and sharing my passion for stories with students.
Sometimes, I guest lecture at regional high schools or go back to a local college to teach a class called 'writing popular fiction.' But since my main career is as a novelist, I pass most days at home with my laptop and a cup of tea, daydreaming about my characters and hoping that readers find their adventures entertaining. I'm fortunate to critique with the talented writer Catherine Mann, who I met while living in Shreveport, Louisiana. We've both moved on from those fun years in Shreveport, but our friendship flourishes no matter how far apart we live! I've also had the pleasure of seeing my sister-in-law, Karen Rock, sell her wonderful work to Harlequin so I have another dear friend in my life who shares the joy of writing.
To date, I'm very proud of any critical acclaim my books receive, especially three RITA nominations. But what makes me happiest is to hear from readers via email, letters, or social media, especially then they have really enjoyed a book. Nothing makes my day brighter and reminds me how fortunate I am to do what I love and to make someone else smile while I'm at it.
