About Gary

I was born in Plymouth and after some travelling around, I returned home to Devon. I love it here – just ten minutes from the coast and Dartmoor. I live with my very patient partner, Catherine.

After some uninspiring jobs, I studied law at Warwick University and now specialise in commercial dispute resolution. Outside of work, my main interests are Middle East politics, military history, and keeping abreast of advances in technology.

I began writing seriously four years ago. I lose track of time when I’m writing. I have to force myself to switch off my laptop and sleep!

When I’m not writing, I like to listen to music; everything from opera to rap. I keep fit by working out at my local boxing gym and going for long walks by the sea. I’m also a massive film buff, especially thrillers, and a social media junkie.

I write cinematic, fast-paced, action-packed political thrillers, although not without a healthy smattering of humour. I will be writing a series of novels based on my main character, Tom Dupree, a special agent in the US Bureau of Diplomatic Security.

What advice would you give to new writers?

Write something every day.
