About Tanith

I was born in North London in 1947 to parents who were both professional dancers. After leaving school I worked (badly) at various jobs, until my novel The Birthgrave was published by DAW books of America, in 1975. Since then I have written approximately ninety books, most of them published in both the US and the UK, as well as numerous other countries. My work includes science fiction, fantasy, detective, historical, children’s and contemporary novels and collections; also radio plays and TV scripts (for the cult sci-fi series Blake’s 7). I live on the Sussex Weald, with my husband, writer-artist John Kaiine, in a house full of stained glass, plants and books, under the royal custody of two tuxedo cats.

Writing is one of the most important things in my life, and the only thing I both love and can really do well.
