About Mindy

I learned to read when my parents shoved a book in my hands and told me that I could travel anywhere in the world through stories. I never forgot that advice.
My book travels took me through multiple careers... after I graduated from Princeton University, I considered becoming a professional stage manager or a rabbi. Ultimately, though, I settled on being a lawyer and went on to work as a litigator at a large Washington firm. When I realised that lawyering kept me from writing (and dating and sleeping and otherwise living a normal life), I became a librarian, managing large law firm libraries. Now I write full time.
For years, my dating life was a travel extravaganza as well. I balanced twenty eight first dates in one year, selecting eligible gentlemen from sources as varied as Washingtonian magazine ads, Single Volunteers of D.C., and supposedly certain recommendations from my best friends. Ultimately, I swore off the dating scene entirely.  After two years of carefully-enforced datelessness, I made one last foray onto, where I met my husband – on my first match.
My travels have also taken me through various literary genres. In addition to my Harlequin Special Editions, Mira, and Red Dress Ink books, I've written traditional fantasy novels for Roc, short stories, and non-fiction essays.
In my spare time, I quilt, knit, and try to tame the endless to-be-read shelf in my home library. My husband and cats do their best to fill the left-over minutes.
