About Carolyn

I wrote my first story at the age of ten, when our sixth grade teacher announced she would be offering our work to The Detroit News, to be considered for their weekly Children's Page. Mine made the cut and was published. From that day on, I vowed to write a "whole book" and then have it published. Getting married, having children, working a 40 hour a week job, plus caring for said children and a house that was never as neat as I'd have liked – took much of my time. But the children were happy, digging in the sand in our back yard and swimming in the pool my husband put together for them. We took them camping and across the country several times, making side trips to Disneyland and the desert in Arizona. The desert was by far their favourite place to visit.

We moved from Michigan to South Carolina twenty eight years ago and my husband announced that it was time for me to write that book I'd been talking about for so long. So I did, and promoted him to the job of manager in our household. Managers cook on occasion, do the laundry and are capable of running a vacuum cleaner. He was a success at the job and even hauled me to book signings and trips to book stores so that I could become acquainted with store owners and their crews. In between all this, I worked at a book store myself for twelve years. Now I write, though not on a daily basis. I sit on my deck in the South Carolina sunshine frequently, usually with a book in my hands. Writers write, I have heard. But take it from me, they also read.

I have enjoyed seeing my name on the covers of forty one books now, and I still love what I do. I can only hope that there will be many more.

Favourite films

I absolutely love James Garner, and Murphy’s Romance is my favourite
