Cara Colter’s ‘The Wedding Planner’s Big...
Before I found my home at Mills & Boon, I wrote educational materials, newspaper stories, magazine articles and even sermons – while occasionally turning my hand at being a bar maid, a telephone operator and an office cleaner to make ends meet! After some of those jobs, what is not to love about being a writer? I love the freedom of spending my days creatively, sharing my soul and bringing laughter, hope and romance to my wonderful audience. If it’s a gorgeous day outside, I can close down the computer, go horseback riding, or biking, or swimming, and then turn it on again once the sunlight fades.
After more than twenty-five years of writing tales of love, I find the best way to keep my stories fresh and captivating is to keep my own life interesting. I try to spend some time every year in Hawaii and in 2012 I helped my husband Rob with his book, Unquenchable Spirit – a collection of true stories about his years of high adventure in the Canadian wilderness. At the moment, I am helping a friend train for the swimming portion of a triathlon, figuring out how to produce a video for my wonderful yoga instructor, Cathleen, and taking cherries to a local farmer’s market in season. In one way or another, elements of all those things will become part of the stories I tell.
I live on a small acreage in British Columbia where I share my life with nine horses, the neighbour’s cat, a Pomeranian terrorist named Buffy, and my hero, Rob.
I have given up my website in favour of Facebook, and I just love interacting with readers there. I hope you’ll drop by and say hi!
