You wouldn’t have been able to resist either, believe me!
He broke down my defences as if they were paper. One dark, unfathomable glance from Alejandro, the notorious Duke of Alzacar, and I was his. It was only later that I realised why he’d seduced me, and I had no choice but to flee.
Nine months on, he’s found me. No matter how my body and my heart react to him, I can never let the Duke take our son away from me. But Alejandro will stop at nothing. I have just one card left to play…

This book is unusual in that it is written in the first person which is quite brave as I understand surveys in the past have shown that this is not particularly liked by readers. I am ambivalent on this- it does slightly restrict the parameters of what you can write but it tends to fade into the background.
Typical Jennie Lucas fodder with an almost Cinderella-like heroine and an utterly selfish hero who has everything his own way.
I would have liked to see Lena with a lot more backbone and felt she should have forced the issue. In one particular scene near the end her actions showed no self reapect and were a betrayal of herself.
Ms Lucas has a legion of fans who will lap up this book but it's just not my cup of tea although I did like it better than some of her recent novels.
Six out of ten
Jennie Lucas is my favorite M&B author!! and again Mrs.Lucas never disappoints and she does another an amazing job with this book! It's a great read and gives us a wonderful characters and a good storyline
A delightful, sensuous, riveting romance!
I loved the storyline pregnant heroines always work for me. The short, repartee constantly ensuing between Alejandro and Lena adds charm to the plot. The secrets of both the hero and heroine are well sustained till the very end and it makes the reading more interesting. There was no extraneous detail to detract from the storyline . It was only befitting that it ended with them being a complete family. Jennie Lucas has done it again, a story to be read in one go. Superb indeed.
