Rating By R, 29 Jul 2014

Mrs Mallory has an easy-to-read writing style which is always enjoyable and parts of this were very good particularly the aloof but delectable hero Ralph, Lord Adversane although he could have been more open with Lucy towards the end. However, there was a large element of mystery involved in the plot and unfortunately it was obvious from the start "whodunnit". Lucy herself began as an appealing heroine but becomes rather irritating as vacillates one way then the other when she should have had the sense to know who to trust. A reasonably good read which somehow just failed to hit the mark. Seven out of ten

Strong Characters

Rating By Julia, 04 Aug 2014

This story has some great banta moments with 2 very strong characters. Ralph is strong but haunted by his past. Lucy is trying to find somewhere she can belong. They both butt heads and both have strong opinions. The rest of Ralph's family are all strong and open characters. They add some wonderful colour to the story. The underlining plot added great interest to the overall story. I wanted more of an ending because there were several areas that were left open such as What happens with Adam? Where is the wedding? What happens with Lucy's mum? Does Ralph talk to Uncle Edgeworth? I enjoyed the story but wanted more of an ending.
