THE ONLY WOMAN WHO CAN MAKE HIM REPENT!
Honourable – and handsome to boot! – Michael Poole, Duke of St Aldric, has earned his nickname ‘The Saint’. But the ton would shudder if they knew the truth. Because, thrust into a world of debauchery, this saint has turned sinner!
With the appearance of fallen governess Madeline Cranston – carrying his heir – St Aldric looks for redemption through a marriage of convenience. But the intriguing Madeline is far from a dutiful duchess, and soon this saint is indulging in the most sinful of thoughts…while his new wife vows to make him pay for his past.

Disgusting

Opens with characters considering the aftermath of the main make character's rape of the main female character. Made very clear that this was sex without consent to the extent that female character reflects he could have solved his problem with violence. Sickening.

Not to my taste

I had read the previous review before reading this book and I wonder if the reviewer did not perhaps read on for the circumstances were not exactly as first seemed and in fact a certain amount of blame lay with the heroine? Not that I am condoning Michael's actions but Madeline was by no means a shrinking violet and in truth her actions throughout most of the book can only be described as those of a first class b*tch. On the whole, considering the time period I have to say I found Michael a fascinating character and he deserved much better in a wife. While I generally enjoy Mrs Merrill's novels and this was as usual well written I found this whole plot rather distasteful. Four out of ten Four out of ten
