HAD SHE BEEN RIGHT UNDER HIS NOSE ALL THESE YEARS?

Jack Seaborne, Duke of Dettingham, needs a duchess, but falling in love is definitely not on the agenda. The logical thing would be to throw open the doors of his ducal country seat, host a house party for this Season’s most beautiful debutantes…and pick one of them.

But then Miss Jessica Pendle arrives – his aunt’s plain-speaking goddaughter – and she’s the one who stands out from the crowd. But Jessica is looking for love – the one emotion Jack resists. Although he can’t deny there’s something about Jessica that’s very persuasive…!

always delightful

I love the characters, the dialogue and the twists to a classic plot. Very recommendable if you like your stories naughty but nice!

This could be put into a category called Historical Heat. While quite novel I didn't really enjoy the angle taken by the author in that the somewhat autocratic but insipid Jack had decided Jessica was going to be his Duchess despite his denial of loving her and spent his time both trying to persuade and bully her to his way of thinking. Jessica was a strong heroine who was prepared to defy the normal conventions of the day. I felt that the sexual content didn't really add to the story but was included for the sake of it and neither party gae any thought to birth control Overall I found this a rather strange Historical which really didn't quite come off for me. Four point five out of ten
