Really loved this story. Thought it started really well and I enjoyed the struggle between Carter and Lily. At places this book was very visual and I could picture the scenes in my head. Enjoyed this duo, but after reading the first I knew the outcome for this story, which spoiled the ending.
Just finished this book. Loved the story and the characters Lily and Carter. I really enjoyed how this story unfolded and made you think about the others involved, and how the story affected their lives also.
Soooo wanted them to get together at the end of this book . . . but guess you will have to read it to find out!
I have read all of Scarlet's books now and really feel in this book you can see how much she has grown as an author, she has written the story so well, I didn't want the book to end!
Well done again Scarlet!!
The second book in a powerful duo about an IVF mix-up.
It is quite difficult to review this book on it's own.
There are two great characters in John and Lily. John in particular gains my respect and I have a lot of sympathy with his predicament. While this is written from his perspective I was disappointed that Lily mostly saw things from the aspect of Olivia who was carrying the baby as the first book was written entirely from her viewpoint.
While the development of the romance between the characters is delightful the story is taken over by the IVF plot.
While there is no black and white outcome to what has happened I suppose in M&B land it would have been easiest to have John the true father fall in love with Olivia who is carrying the baby but that didn't fit in. I couldn't begin to decide what the "right" ending should be.
Without divulging the plot it was unfortunate that the ending left certain matters unresolved.
Sometimes I feel that an epilogue can be an anti-climax I think this is one book where one a few years down the line giving a peek into the characters lives would have been appropriate and rewarding.
An intriguing but also disturbing and compelling novel.
