I started writing to entertain myself during long winters in New England. My poems, short stories and family memoirs – all emotional fare – filled a binder and made me happy. On a whim I submitted one of my short stories to a national contest sponsored by Writers Digest magazine where it competed against almost 2000 other entries. To my great delight, the story placed in the top ten. My success in the contest spurred me on to wanting to write a novel – something I quickly learned I needed help with.
I joined professional writing organisations including Romance Writers of America. Workshops, seminars, critique groups followed and I practically built a reference library on the craft of writing – I studied and worked so hard, I could have earned myself a masters by the end of it!
Five years later, I released my first book, followed up by a dozen more in the Harlequin Superromance series. I am proud to say that my books have earned many industry awards such as the Holt Medallion, Write Touch Reader’s Award, and the Award of Excellence.
My great hope is that my readers will remember my stories long after reading the last page.
