I write fiction under a variety of genres and use a different pen names for each one of my different worlds. As Jayne Ann Krentz (my married name) I write contemporary romantic-suspense. I use the name Amanda Quick for my novels of historical romantic-suspense and Jayne Castle (my birth name) for my stories of futuristic/paranormal romantic-suspense.
As well as writing fiction, I also edit and contribute to a non-fiction essay collection 'Dangerous men and adventurous women: Romance writers on the appeal of the romance genre' which is published by the University of Pennsylvania Press and every year at the annual convention of the Romance Writers of America I participate in a special day-long workshop for librarians, hosting a talk on the importance of the romance genre.
I feel that Romance is the only genre where readers are guaranteed novels that place the heroine at the heart of the story. These are books that celebrate women's heroic virtues and values: courage, honour, determination and a belief in the healing power of love.
Before I began writing full time, I earned a BA in History from the University of California at Santa Cruz and went on to obtain a Masters degree in Library Science from San Jose State University in California before working as a librarian in both academic and corporate libraries.
I currently live with my husband, Frank, in Seattle, Washington.
