I was born in Southern California, grew up in Northwestern Colorado and lived in South Texas for some time, but I’ve called Central Oklahoma home for most of my adult life.
I spent fifteen years working in local television in the Oklahoma City and Corpus Christi markets and after writing for seven years (during which time I left television and completed seven novels), I made my first book sale in September 1990. Within two and a half years of my first sale, I sold twenty two novels, both contemporary and historical romances. My books have been nominated for numerous awards and have earned a total of six major book awards, including the National Readers' Choice Award, Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award, and the Colorado Romance Writers' Award of Excellence. In addition, I am a three-time finalist for the Romance Writers of America's coveted RITA Award.
What little time I do not spend writing and researching my next book, I spend volunteering my time to various writers' organisations. Having completed six years on the Romance Writers of America's Board of Directors, including a two-year term ending in October 1996 as President and CEO, I just recently retired as RWA's web master and I now manage not only my own web site, but also the site for the Oklahoma Romance Writers of America.
I actively promote my own work by holding signings and by speaking at various writers' and readers' workshops and conferences across the country.
I believe strongly in reading not just for knowledge, but for pleasure. And, of course, I believe in happy endings. That is, after all, why I write romance novels.
