About Fiona

Growing up in Papua New Guinea meant that the only form of entertainment I had in my early years, was books – I didn't even learn about TV until I was eight, and by that time my love of reading was truly entrenched. One of my first teenage rebellions was refusing to go on a bushwalk with my parents because I was halfway through reading Gone with the Wind.

Eventually the real world intruded on my life and I was forced to pull my nose out of a book and earn a living. I went into a career in Nursing and my favourite areas of hospital-based nursing are Midwifery, Accident & Emergency and Theatre. I enjoy being my own boss however, and so I headed into community health and health education and counselling. Seeing people taking control of their own health and avoiding hospital gives me a real thrill.

When I was on maternity leave with my first child, I heard a radio interview about romance fiction – and there began my dream of becoming a published author. It took ten years to make it happen and I sold my first novel in 2005. Since then I’ve written many Harlequin Mills & Boon Medical romances as well as single title contemporary romances with the digital-first imprint of Harlequin, Carina Press.

I’ve lived around the world but am currently living in southern Victoria, Australia. I’m a weekend wife, mother of two teenagers, guardian of eighty rose bushes, a slave to a cat and I’m often found collapsed on the couch with a glass of wine.

I enjoy playing tennis, reading, gardening, attending the theatre and I’m always planning my next holiday adventure, which usually seem to end up in a book. I love to fire up the BBQ and invite friends over for a casual meal, a swim in the pool and lots of conversation.

And like most women I juggle way too many balls and fall in a heap now and then. Luckily I have a generous husband who picks me up, dusts me down and suggests I ‘go read a book’ to recharge.
