When I was a child, I used to sneak around collecting fingerprints, hair strands and fibres left behind by family members and guests. At the age of eight, I solved my first crime. Well, sort of. When someone nibbled off the ear of my chocolate Easter bunny, I searched for clues and soon discovered that my sister had chocolate bunny breath. With that case closed, I believed I’d discovered my calling – I wanted to be a Texas Ranger or FBI agent. When I eventually realised that I just wouldn't be very good at chasing down bad guys, I opted for a slightly different career path, and now I create fictional cowboy cops and other law enforcement officers. Writing romantic suspense is something I enjoy immensely, and I am proud to say it has earned me the Romantic Times Reviewers Choice and Booksellers Best Awards.
I've lived all over the U.S. and in England, have had a variety of careers and jobs including work as an Air Force captain (where I met my Air Force colonel husband), a special ed teacher and a rehab counsellor. None of them have been as fun or challenging as the time I've spent as a stay-at-home mom to to my four children. I still collect fingerprints, hair strands and fibres every time I dust or vacuum though, which is... well. Not very often.
