I think few people would have predicted that I’d become an author of romance, given my background. I graduated from West Point, the United States Military Academy, and was sent to Texas, where I served as an officer in the Military Police Corps for several years. Off-duty, however, I was a bookworm. No matter where in the world the Army sent me, I always treasured the happily-ever-after of a good romance novel. But did I write one? Not yet. Instead, I entered civilian life in the pharmaceutical industry, discussing science with physicians by day, reading voraciously by night. After more than a decade, I finally turned from romance reading to romance writing. It turns out those first two careers prepared me well, after all. The hero of my first published novel was an Army physician, and I’ve written about physicians and emergency responders ever since—heroes who all live in Texas, naturally.
In my real life, I’ve been as lucky in love as a Mills & Boon heroine. My husband and I have two children, and we live in Florida near all the great theme parks. Since we’re roller-coaster fanatics, living just a short drive from so many coasters has saved us a fortune on plane tickets. For one memorable anniversary, however, my husband and I did venture to England and Germany to ride some European coasters!
I would love to hear from you about your experiences, too - please feel free to get in touch via any of my social links. I look forward to meeting you!
