About Bronwyn

It took a long time for me to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. Initially I dreamed of being a vet, but decided my squeamish stomach wouldn't handle the gory stuff and when my love for writing had me considering journalism, I realised I was too shy to go shopping for an internship.

Instead I chose a practical degree for a farmer's daughter who loved the land and all things country: agriculture. After I got married, I honed my skills and took a course in farm financial management – the perfect thing for a farmer’s wife! In between I worked as a rural journalist, which at least gave me some chance to play with words – although not nearly as creatively as I would have liked!

All the while I spent as much leisure time as possible with my head buried in a book, more often than not a romance. Three children and a succession of dry, dull, part-time jobs later I read a magazine article promoting Romance Writers of Australia, and wondered if I could write one of the stories I loved to read.

It had been twenty five years since my last fiction writing effort (a short story which my sister submitted as her own college assignment!) but I decided to give it a go. Armed with two how-to books, a vague story line, and a truckload of naïve enthusiasm, I blithely typed chapter one and there was no turning back.

I discovered the joy of creating characters, investing them with real-life dilemmas and insecurities and traumas, which I could then set about making right. What a magical way to spend ones days!
That first incomplete story was labelled a learning experience, but on my second attempt I made it all the way to the desired happy ending. My next story sold to Silhouette Desire and I had found the perfect job.

I share an idyllic piece of the Australian farming heartland with my husband of twenty years, our three sons, a few thousand sheep, a dozen horses, assorted wildlife, and one sheepdog. When my head isn't bent over the keyboard or buried in a book, you’ll find me at the stables or somewhere out on the farm, cheering my sons on at one of their many sporting pursuits, or spending time with our extended family.
