Do you have a favourite locale or setting for your novels? What is it and why is it your favourite?
Of my 11 books for Silhouette Desire, I’ve used San Francisco 8 times. It’s a city that most people perceive as romantic, but mostly I use it because I live close by and I know it well, including the weather patterns.
Which of the books you have written is your favourite?
Oh no, don’t you dare ask me that! I love them all for different reasons.
What is your favorite recent Mills & Boon, Silhouette, or MIRA title by another author?
Silhouette recently published an anthology called Big Sky Brides. I absolutely loved Christine Rimmer’s novella, Suzanna. I thought it was perfect.

Describe the ultimate romantic meal.
The food doesn’t matter as much as the company. There’s nothing more romantic to me than eating dinner on the patio of a restaurant in Mazatlan, Mexico, where my husband and I vacation frequently. The sun is setting in the Pacific Ocean, the breeze is blowing my hair, children are laughing, and my skin is tingling from the day in the sun. It’s heaven on earth.
What is your all-time favourite romantic movie?
An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. I still cry every time I see it.
What is your all-time favourite romantic song or composition?
"When I Fall in Love"
What is the most romantic gesture or gift you have received?
My husband used to bring me flowers; now he grows them for me. He’ll surprise me with a vase of roses he’s cut just for me.

Besides writing, what other talent would you most like to have?
I wish I could sing! In actuality, people would cover their ears if they heard me.
Who is someone you admire and why?
My mother, who made every day of my childhood a joy and an adventure. She was a feminist long before the word was commonly used, but she was the ultimate wife and mother, too.
The day I graduated from high school, my parents said to me, "You’ll always be our daughter but you are no longer our child." They had eased me in adulthood long before that moment, but the words of acknowledgement were wonderful to hear.

What quality do you most admire in a man?
One quality? You don’t ask easy questions. Hmmm.

What is the one thing you've always wanted to do, but never had the courage to try?
Drive in San Francisco! You have to be an aggressive driver to survive there and I’m barely assertive.
If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?
Desperate.

"The difference between a stepping stone and stumbling block is in how you use it." I don’t know who said it, but I love the saying.
