"This is a gentle but slow-moving story with the next stage in the plot all too easily discernible.
The characters are engaging enough but lack that vital spark particularly Zander. Caris is somewhat naive.
I expect a lot more from Mrs Wilkinson who is a favourite author.
Overall, I'm not certain that this really fits in to the Modern genre.

"I was disappointed with this lack-lustre story.
Far too much of the book related to the back story of how the two main characters, Zander and Caris, met.
Their parting was very 'wishy-washy' - lacking in substance or any sense of drama. Zander just wasn't a good leading men - not the dark, broody character you would associate with a 'modern' book. Caris was quite vapid and limp - leaving the supposed love of her life because he worked too much, didn't communicate. Where was her fire, her spark? It was all too sadly missing.
Too many threads of the story line were glossed over, barely hinted at. Caris relationship with her father. Zander's with his family and his work - his hotel empire that didn't factor into the story-line at all.
The story-line in general lacked any real sense of passion or pace. It was a bit of slog to read and I did not engage with the characters or story at all.
Ms Wilkinson is capable of far better.
