"The brooding Daniel is a fasinating and moral hero - having been injured in battle he has a slight inferiority complex but will carry out a promise made to a dying friend.
However while Liliana is a modern woman of her era there is a somewhat unappealing side to her, coming over as rather spoilt and immature when she will cause a disagreement even though she's not against a situation just because she feels she hasn't been consulted. Could she not discuss things rationally?
But I enjoyed the plot and there's plenty of action and excitement making it an engrossing read.
