I am usually a big fan of Juliet Landon but this book made my head spin a little. Usually there is the story of a man and woman getting together and finding a happy ending and usually the rest is background. In this story the outer characters had as more if not a little more envolvement than the main characters did within the story. There was too many long paragraphs with too much descriptions of the era and the court going ons. Yes it was needed for the story but did there need to be so many times when they split the characters and move off into the realms of the history books instead of a historical romance. I found it hard to gather enthusiasm for the story because of the interference of so many other characters. I liked Jon and Ginny but I would have liked more on their story and less on the historical events. The Epilogue was a wonderful ending as it rounded off what happened to most of the characters but the father was very much missing. It does have some wonderful parts to the ending. But I would have liked a bit more about Jon and Ginny's life. The author note was very informative and interesting along with the Bibliography.
