About Amanda

I am happily single and currently live in my old family home on the borders of Essex. I enjoy my large extended family – I'm the proud great aunt to eighteen nieces and nephews and was thrilled to recently discover some distant relatives as far as Canada and the United States, when I began researching my family tree in my spare time. In fact I'm about to make a plunge into the world of the Internet to see what more discoveries I can make. I imagine that will be interesting in more ways than one!

The remainder of my spare time is usually spent doing counted cross-stitch. I really enjoy the designs based on the works of Marty Bell, as well as the gorgeous designs of Victorian Ladies, angels by Lavender & Lace, and Mirabilia ranges – they are so intricate! I find it very satisfying to finish one and finally see it hanging on a wall.

Of course, I still manage to find time for some gardening. Like most gardeners, I am constantly waging war against cats, who think the beds are their private toilets, and the snails, who dine out on my flowers. So far I have resisted the ultimate deterrent of trekking out at night with a torch and a bucket, but I've giving it serious consideration!
