About Marcia

I grew up on a wheat farm in central Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains. From my father, I learned the art of storytelling; from my mother, a reverence for books; and from Oklahoma's red earth, a love of wildlife and the outdoors.

I earned BA and MA degrees from the University of Central Oklahoma, taught in public high schools for more than a decade, and worked for a time as PR and publications director for the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. For many years, I have edited and published ByLine, a trade magazine for aspiring writers and I also oversee the farm where I grew up, which was homesteaded by my grandparents.

I currently live with my husband, Paul, beside a creek in central Oklahoma, where I bird-watch, garden and dodge tornadoes.
