Think like a reader. It's fine to write the book you want to write the way you want to write it, but once you've done that, try to stand back, take a deep breath and an objective look and ask yourself if you, as a reader, would buy that book. If not, edit, cut, rework until you really do have a book that will appeal to readers. Be ruthless.
