What do you love most about being a writer?

Having my stories resonate with readers, making them happy or sad or inspired.

What do you like least about being a writer?

Sitting at the blasted computer.

Do you have a favourite locale or setting for your novels? What is it and why is it your favourite?

I like to make up whole worlds and then invite the readers to visit.

Which of the books you have written is your favourite?

A Christmas Blessing, because that’s when I met the indomitable Harlan Adams and his family—and Amazing Gracie because it’s set in an area of Virginia I love.

What is your favourite recent Mills and Boon, Silhouette or MIRA title by another author?

Carla Neggars’s On Fire published by MIRA.

What is your all-time favourite book?

At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon

What one specific piece of advice would you give a would-be writer trying to kick-start a career?

Persistence. If one person’s rejection can shatter your faith in yourself, you’re in the wrong business.

Describe the ultimate romantic meal.

On a terrace overlooking the sea, with good wine, good conversation, great food, and a very good friend.

What is your all-time favourite movie?

Now, Voyager, followed closely by anything with Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn.

What is your all-time favourite song or composition?

The Two of Us.
